"Reviving the Overlooked: Artfully Blending Nature, Reclaimed Materials, and Creative Innovation"
Artist Statement:
My art is all about finding beauty in what’s been overlooked and giving it a new life. I was inspired by a book called Art from Found Materials, which reminded me of my grandfather’s amazing ability to turn found objects into stunning pieces. His creativity really resonated with me and set me on my own artistic path.
My mom taught me to see the art in nature and everyday life, and this has influenced everything I create. My gardens and upcycled furniture are a blend of nature’s beauty and my love for discovering and repurposing things. I find so much joy in gardening, especially in experimenting with different plants and containers. The way succulents and other plants adapt and thrive in these setups never ceases to amaze me.
Recently, my husband and son gifted me clay, which has opened up a whole new world of creativity for me. Learning to work with clay has been a mix of frustration and excitement, but it’s been incredibly rewarding.
I like to think of my art as “green” because I use reclaimed and recycled materials for much of what I create. Whether it’s garden elements, containers, or painted furniture, I aim to blend creativity with sustainability, reflecting my commitment to both art and the environment.
