Artist Statement

Ever since I can remember I have been playing with art. I studied at Douglas College from 1979 and into early 1983, focusing on drawing, oil painting, and pottery. I found something I loved in all the different mediums. I had to take a break to bring up my daughter and in 2000 I took a stained-glass course and became hooked on glass.

I spent 10 years making fused glass and it seemed natural to move back to pottery. When the pandemic hit, I felt as though I needed a challenge and water colour painting was just that.

I call it my painting bubble. All my focus is on the piece that I’m working on. Watercolour is so different but also similar to oil painting, but the most important thing is good composition and learning just how far you can push the medium.

Artistic Style

With a rich background in drawing, oil painting, pottery, and stained glass, this artist’s work is a testament to a lifelong exploration of various mediums. Their style evolves with each medium they embrace, from the vibrant experimentation of fused glass to the tactile intimacy of pottery. Currently immersed in watercolor painting, they focus on composition and the medium’s expressive possibilities, blending the structured approach of oil painting with the fluidity of watercolor. This dynamic approach reflects their ongoing quest to challenge and expand their artistic boundaries.
