"Eclectic Ceramics: Where Tradition Meets Innovation"
Artist Statement
I have always enjoyed drawing, painting, silk screening and printmaking and tried a wide variety of art media throughout my life and career as a special education consultant. I took classes in pottery, hand building and wheel throwing, in the early 2000s. I found clay to be a very satisfying material to create both functional and decorative works. My style is eclectic, finding inspiration from pottery I see during my travels, in galleries and online. I am often drawn to Asian designs, or primitive multi-textured clay works, and alternative firing processes. I like to alter forms made on the wheel, using a variety of techniques. Working with clay, and the multitude of finishing processes is a constant path of learning. I enjoy the camaraderie of fellow potters and play a leadership role in the North Delta Potters Guild. I now enjoy teaching pottery to children and adults through the North Delta Potters Guild and recreation programming for the City of Delta.
