"Crafting Inspiration: Hand-Carved Ceramics and Masterful Throwing"

Artist Statement

I began my ceramic adventure by taking classes at Surrey Art Gallery for several years, where I learned the basics of throwing and hand-building ceramics. In 2013 I joined the North Delta Potters Guild, where I have continued to learn from Guild Members as well as the odd YouTube video. Before the pandemic, I was teaching adult hand-building classes for the Guild and enjoying every minute of it. Sharing my love of ceramics with new potters is both rewarding and inspirational. My predominant style consists of carving and small detail work, while at the same time pushing myself to throw larger and larger pieces. The learning never stops in the world of Ceramics and I look forward to discovering new techniques over the next decades!

Artistic Style

This artist's style is a delicate balance of intricate detail and bold exploration. With a foundation in both throwing and hand-building, their work is characterized by meticulously carved designs and a continual push towards larger, more ambitious forms. Each piece reflects a dedication to both technical skill and creative exploration, blending traditional techniques with innovative approaches. Their ceramics are not just functional objects but also canvases for intricate detail and artistic expression, embodying a journey of lifelong learning and passionate craftsmanship.
