Watershed Artworks host’s art classes every season! Learn artistic tips and techniques from some of our favorite artists and members! This event is open to the public but limited seats are available.

  • Select classes have the option to buy supplies the day of the class or you may bring you own art supplies.

  • A supply list will be sent out to those who register prior to the class.

Watercolor Painting In Fashion

Use watercolour paints & pencils to add colour to fashion illustration sketches. Experiment with basic watercolour techniques & develop basic painting skills. Students will be introduced to terminology, tools & supplies using watercolour to paint fashion illustrations. Refund Policy: One week’s notice for full refund must be provided. If less than one week’s notice is given, 50% of the fee will be refunded. If notice is given on or after the start date of the program, no refund will be provided.

Vera is a textile artist & photographer who enjoys vivid colors and unique textures. She likes to experiment with textiles to create striking, complex accessories. Her latest passion is hand pleating using pole wrapping techniques, to create beautifully sculptured scarves. Her background includes garment construction, sewing with specialty fabrics, quilting, embroidery, beading and draping. She has also taught computer technology, pattern making, fashion illustration and the history of costume. She enjoys travelling, photography, painting using watercolor, fashion illustration, knitting, crochet & skiing.

Acrylic Painting For Beginner & Intermediate Level Artists

Acrylic paints are liked by artist for their ease of use, quick drying and forgiving nature.  This course is intended for anyone who would like to try acrylic painting for the first time or brush up on their skills.

Rita Chaplinsky has been painting in acrylics for 20 years.  She teaches at the North Delta Rec Centre and the Kennedy Senior Centre.  She is also a member of The Watershed Artworks Society and has paintings in the gallery shop.  Formerly, she was the Vice President of the Delta Arts Council and the Langley Arts Council.  Rita also participates annually at the Delta Studio Stomp which is an artists studio tour where artists open up their homes to showcase their works and studios.  She has studied architecture but is now working as an accountant.

Make 3 of your own personalized Sterling Silver Stacker Rings.  Forming these thin rings encourages room for creativity to make more random features/designs while learning ring sizing, forming, filing, sanding, polishing and texturing metal.

Ken has been a jewellery artist for many years, and has lived in Delta for the past 18. He works in mixed mediums with metal, stone and glass being the foundational materials.  Always trying to honour the past in his work, Ken takes it forward by teaching and supporting the Creative Visual Arts whenever he can.

Watercolour on Rice-Paper

This beginner-friendly watercolour on rice-paper workshop requires no prior experience. Participants will learn the traditional brush stroke techniques for drawing a variety of subjects, such as bamboo, flowers, and birds. You’ll have fun drawing while learning how to mix colors and compose a painting. The workshop will also cover adding backgrounds and mounting paintings for framing. You’ll work on a couple of small paintings during the workshop.

Eileen Fong Studied Chinese painting and other painting media while working in the health field. Having lived in British Columbia for most of her life, its beautiful surroundings become her source of inspiration. As a member of the several artist groups, her work has received awards, among which is an award of Excellence in 2014 Federation of Canadian Artists Landscape Juried Exhibition. In her work, she strives to capture the light and colours of nature with a sense of peace and spontaneity.
