Artist Statement

I have an Art Education Degree but left teaching early on to pursue a career in Graphic Design and have worked as a designer for 35 years. For as long as I can remember I have had an interest in vintage jewellery, been a rockhound and a bead hoarder.

I incorporate semiprecious gemstones into most of my pieces. I find it fascinating that these beautiful stones are nestled under the surface of the ground we walk on. Under what we would consider being dirt, emerge these beautiful stones.

Sometimes beautiful beads inspire a design and other times, the design floats into my head and I go on a hunt for the perfect beads. I am fond of vintage jewelry and while times are different, I still like the idea of a special piece of jewellery with just about any outfit for any occasion. While most times we buy jewellery to match an outfit, spectacular beads have at times compelled me to purchase just the right clothes for the beads.
